Do you know God?
Knowing God and knowing about Him are two very different and separate things.
Let me use facebook to illustrate.
A friend of mine was new to facebook and saw someone he admired so he asked him to be his friend. The reply came something like this. “I wish I could be your friend, but as we have never met, I would suggest for you to go to my fan page and join.” See people who have never met in any way can not be friends. I am not saying that you can’t make friends over the internet, but if you’ve never interacted with them via email, text, forums, facebook conversations, telephone, skype, or some other way, you don’t know them, even in passing, so how can you be friends? You don’t know them, but you know of them.
Do you know God?
Do you really know God or only know of Him?
Have you met Him?
If not, how do you meet Him and get to know Him?I believe this is how.
You read the Holy Bible. You pray to God that you believe that Jesus is and was God and died for the whole of the world’s sin, including yours. You believe that He rose bodily (as a real human) from the dead and ascended to heaven and is at His Father’s side in Heaven now. You believe that He is the Lord of your life. This means that you believe that God is right and you have turned away from habitually sinning. You believe you are forgiven totally and completely and NOTHING you do can (apart from renouncing your belief in God) separate you from His forgiveness. If you have done these things, then you can truly call yourself a Christian. You are a child of God and your journey with Him as friends has BEGUN. You can get to know Him. Being a Christian is more than just a prayer of salvation though, there is so much more to it.
You need to explore your new life in Christ. You have been given a new spirit and through it the Holy Spirit (the third person of the triune God) can communicate with you and direct you as you travel through life to do the will of God. As you journey through life: praying without ceasing, with thanksgiving and supplications (and sitting quietly in His presence, listening); reading the bible; and serving others as though they are Jesus, you will get to know God more and more. You will become more Christlike and you will want to share the Good News with others.
So instead of knowing about God (even the demons know about God) you KNOW Him and believe in Him for everything in your life. So if someone asks you “Do you know God?” you can answer with confidence, “Yes.” Then ask, “Do you?” You’ll be surprised where God will take you.

I found treasure!
I found a treasure yesterday. I value personal achievement and striving for what is best for you. My new found treasure is a blog. The central theme is Living a simple life. The sub-title at the top is
We discuss vegetable and fruit gardening, slowing down and being mindful, cooking simple food, keeping chickens and worms, composting, green cleaning, stockpiling and preserving, living well on a small amount of money, working within the community and how to change the habits of a consumer to those of a conserver.
Rhonda Jean uses friendly conversation with bits of life journal to convey to younger people (and others) how to find your own brand of simple living. She intersperses her posts with photos of her home including her garden and crafts. I find it very inspiring, and so do all the readers. She welcomes comments and replies in a bit of a forum threadlike fashion.
She posts on the idea of simple living from time to time as well as what she is doing. Below is an excerpt from one of her posts.
Whatever your circumstances are, you can fashion a life that will simplify your daily tasks, help you nurture yourself and your family and lead you to discover that a simple life is like a patchwork – it’s pieced together slowly, unpicked sometimes, composed of a mish-mash of colours and textures and is different for everyone, depending on the fabric of your life. But when one stands back from a completed patchwork, it’s complexity becomes apparent. It’s no longer pieces of this and that, it builds into a functional piece that gives warmth, beauty and comfort.
If you like the idea of slowing down and jumping off the neverending treadmill of the ratrace, no matter where you are, take the time to read her blog. It will be well worth it.
Down To Earth – Rhonda Jean

Good Friday and Hot Cross Buns
Hot Cross Buns are only supposed to be eaten on Good Friday!
Do you know why?
The bun is made from dough (representing the Body of Christ),
it has raisins (the wine, or Blood of Christ)
and is spiced (for burial).
The Cross on top signifies the crucifixion.
And they are heated in the oven (as Christ’s body was placed in the tomb)
and smothered in butter – the oil of anointing.
They are more than a tea time snack – they are a devotion to the Christ who died for us.

When life throws you a curve ball…
…make sure you have a mitt.
Today I read a blog post about a friend who’s daughter almost died. Thankfully she made it through the incident. First aid training would have made the situation easier to handle.
If you haven’t got any first aid training or wish to update yours, please book a course. The cost is worth it.
St John Ambulance Australia is a charity with a strong volunteer ethos, is volunteer led and relies heavily on volunteers to undertake its charitable work. It is essentially self-funding with first aid training, the sale of publications and first aid kits, public duty income and donations funding its humanitarian objectives.
Life is fragile, protect it.

Rain and Harvest
Rain and harvest don’t go together at the same time. When I was living in Perth I always hoped the rain would “get out to the farmers” but after living in the wheatbelt for almost 18 months I’m slowly learning that rain isn’t always the answer out here.Yesterday we all went to a friend’s farm. Knowing it’s harvest time I was aware that we may be out to the paddock to help out if necessary or having to cut our visit short. Neither happened even though there was no rain. With the advances in technology such as GPS in harvesters etc, farmers can now get the moisture of the grain tested. The more moisture in it the lower price they’ll get. So even in if it’s a humid day or its rained in the past day or so they may not be able to harvest and get a good price.
This morning it rained here in town the birds are loving it, but it looks like another day of waiting for the farmers. Looks like they’ll be harvesting into the new year.

ok… NOW I get it!
I didn’t “get” facebook for a bit there. Now I understand that you just get on there, play games, see what others are writing and comment. When I first began (way back last week!) I felt like I had to say what I was doing all the time and it felt very weird. Now, it’s better with more friends and more things to do (and be a fan of!!! lol)
